Governance and Institutions (2024-2027)

Nature

Scientific research project (Notice Universal Call CNPq/MCTI N° 10/2023)

Status:

Ongoing

Funding:

National Council for Scientific and Technological Development – CNPq

Description and Purpose:

Several symbolic, ceremonial, and mythologized elements that integrate the informal sphere of institutions are as important as those in the formal sphere of organizations. These elements, which are not technical, can influence governance practices and mechanisms, impacting them as much or even more than the technical aspects. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the differences between 'institutions' and 'governance', how these elements interact, and their practical effects. With the growing interest in understanding how cultural forces originating from the institutional dimension of society affect organizational purpose and control, the project aims to analyze how non-technical aspects (i.e., mythical-rational, symbolic, and ceremonial) influence governance in organizations and their impacts on performance and results.
